A Christian Allegory of Faith, Discernment, and Overcoming
In a quiet British farmhouse garden, an ordinary robin is called to live with extraordinary faith.
The Song of the Overcomer
The Song of the Overcomer is a work of Christian allegorical fiction following Robin and a community of familiar garden birds as they encounter friendship, loss, deception, spiritual conflict, and the cost of remaining faithful to The Eagle.
As the seasons change and darkness gathers around them, each bird must decide whom to trust, and whether truth is worth the sacrifice it may require.
Through an imaginative story rooted in biblical truth, readers are invited to consider what it means to recognize deception, pursue a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, and remain faithful through difficult seasons.

“Robins are the first birds to start the dawn chorus and even sing through the night. They will also fight to the death to defend their territory, the red of their breasts a sign of the wounds they will risk.
Imagine if one of them is a Christian, and the farm in which he lives is the rest of the world. Meet the indomitable Blue Tit, with his bright and playful boldness; the uncompromising Wagtail, whose feathers are simply black or white; and the witnessing Jay, with her radiant wing flash and arresting call. But Magpie, who is greedy for shiny things, preaches a false promise of prosperity; Green Woodpecker, with her unique gift of tapping, is determined to be centre-stage; Crossbill, with his twisted beak, distorts the truth with his prophetic words; and the white Goose, who looks very like the grace-filled Swan but isn’t, offers only a pretence of forgiveness and loyalty.
As Crow’s wickedness turns light into darkness in their world, and time grows short, will Robin and his faithful friend, Sparrow, conquer evil with love and remain true until the end?”

Welcome to the Farmhouse Garden
The story unfolds among the trees, hedges, fields, and nesting places surrounding a British farmhouse.
It is a world filled with recognizable birds whose natural characteristics help shape their personalities, strengths, weaknesses, and choices. At the center is Robin, a sincere but imperfect follower of The Eagle. Guided by the wisdom passed down from his grandfather, Robin desires to live faithfully and help others recognize the truth.
Around him are birds at many different stages of belief. Some are humble and searching. Some are distracted by prosperity, status, entertainment, or comfort. Others are convinced that they are serving The Eagle while gradually moving further from His truth.
Together, their stories reveal how easily faith can be tested—and how courage is formed through daily decisions to remain close to God.
A Battle for the Hearts of the Birds
Beyond the apparent peace of the garden, a spiritual battle is unfolding.
The Eagle represents truth, holiness, love, and salvation. He calls the birds to know Him, obey Him, and persevere in faith. Crow, however, works through pride, fear, compromise, and deception. His influence reaches birds who openly reject The Eagle as well as those who believe they are already following Him.
Crow understands the desires that can quietly rule the heart. He uses promises of wealth, recognition, entertainment, comfort, and false security to draw the birds away from truth. His plans eventually center on Sparrowhawk, a powerful figure through whom Crow seeks greater control.
Robin and his companions must learn that deception does not always look dark or dangerous at first. It may appear impressive, reassuring, spiritual, or even good. Discernment requires more than appearances; it requires knowing The Eagle’s character and remaining anchored in His word.
ONE STORY. TWO TIMELINES.
The Song of the Overcomer unfolds across two timelines in the same year of Robin’s life, alternating between autumn and winter and the earlier spring and summer.
As the timelines weave together, readers meet a younger Robin who is hopeful and still finding his way, alongside the wiser, stronger bird he is becoming. Past and present gradually illuminate one another, inviting readers to piece together Robin’s story, understand what has shaped him, and discover the meaning behind questions that are not answered all at once.

A Story About the Choices That Shape Faith
Although The Song of the Overcomer is told through the lives of birds, its questions are deeply human.
How Do We Recognize Spiritual Deception?
Not every false path looks obviously false. The story explores the danger of measuring truth by popularity, appearance, personal comfort, or the approval of others.
What Does It Mean to Remain Faithful?
Robin and the other birds discover that faithfulness is expressed through obedience, repentance, humility, endurance, and the willingness to continue when following The Eagle carries a cost.
Can Weakness Become a Place of Growth?
The faithful birds are not portrayed as flawless. Their journeys show the importance of returning to truth and allowing God to use hardship to produce perseverance and spiritual maturity.
What Makes Someone an Overcomer?
The story points toward dependence upon Christ, love for the truth, and faith that remains steadfast until the end.
More Than a Story
The allegory is designed to engage the imagination while directing readers back to Scripture.
Throughout the novel, the birds encounter questions involving salvation, purity, repentance, suffering, false teaching, spiritual authority, courage, and perseverance. Rather than separating these ideas from the narrative, the story allows readers to see them expressed through relationships, choices, and consequences.
Scriptural references corresponding with each chapter are included at the end of the book, creating opportunities for personal reflection, prayer, group discussion, or deeper Bible study. This makes The Song of the Overcomer both an immersive work of Christian fiction and a starting point for thoughtful spiritual examination.
